Just wondering if I am the only person that tends to eat more when they are sick. It's like, I feel bad, so I go around the house eating whatever I can get my hands on hoping that it will be the magical thing that will make me feel better. In the end, I'm still sick and now my pants are tight too.
I found that MIT will provide, for free, with no registration, the notes and course load for a bunch of their class offerings online.
WOOO! HOOO!
So, for some this may be an odd thing to be happy about, but I loved my literature classes in college and am happy to see that there are some on the MIT site.
So I can learn more, widen my knowledge base, etc.
I will span out and look at all the options available, I just went for what I know first off, to see what the offerings looked like.
Perhaps I can apply some of what I learn to making this blog a bit more interesting for any of you still reading...
:-)
Since I have been neglected my blog I thought the perfect way to work back into it would to do a post everyday with the catchy little title/themes...Me and My Monday, Things on Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday...I think I made up Thankful Thursday, but since we are in the month of Thanksgiving I thought it would be appropriate. Problem is, I do not have a catchy title/theme for Friday. I know many people used to participate in Ugly Outfit Friday, but all of my outfits are ugly and I am not in to photographing myself lately.
So...what to call today....Fantastic Friday would probably be okay if it was indeed a fantastic Friday, but it is not. Freaky Friday might work better, but what do I post for that? Fried Friday could be an interesting. Kind of stumped.
Plus, after having a horrible night, I wake to find out that a neighbor's husband hung himself. And then one of the blog families I have come to love is losing their little boy today.
Maybe a more appropriate title would be F-ed Up Friday, but that is probably too offensive.
Sure, I've been sick for a week and a half now with a cold that is holding on like a pit bull. And swine flu has hit the kids' school (not my kids luckily). But there are the graces in life that make it all ok.
Things I am Thankful for.....
My husband - He really is my best friend, he is a great father and just awesome guy. Even though he is looking for a job right now, he still has his sense of humor. And he kisses real good =)
My kiddos - K and N are just doing so well in school and I couldn't be prouder. I just enjoy being with them. C is doing well in football - playoffs this week and is still in counseling. He is struggling with his grades a bit, mostly just Spanish and English, but does get himself up and to school every day without much prompting from me. D is working two jobs right now and trying to get her car situation figured out. Anyone need a '01 Jetta transmission?? If she could sell that she would be able to get a car. J's girlfriend is 11 weeks pregnant. She is due on Rick's birthday. Lots of prayers heading their way. I could/should write a separate post about him......
Coffee - Iced and hot coffee make me very happy.
Church - great to have a family to grow with, worship with and change the world with.
Fuzzy socks - Three years ago, right after or right before my Mom Mom died my Mom went and bought a bunch of fuzzy socks for the sisters and grandkiddos. I love mine. One pair has Betty Boop on them =)
Candles - I have a berry one in the dining room, a vanilla* one in the living room, an apple pie one in the kitchen and a Love Spell one in the bedroom. I love lighting all of them at the same time and going from room to room sniffing in all the different fragrances. Heavenly.
Sleep - I have been sleeping better lately and liking it. Sleep is good.
What are you thankful for??
*I am not a fan of vanilla normally, but this one is like a vanilla sugar cookie of sorts. Yum!
Richard Mayhew is a plain man with a good heart -- and an ordinary life that has changed forever on a day he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. From that moment forward he is propelled into a world he never dreamed exsisted -- a dark subculture flourishing in abondoned subway stations and sewer tunnels beneth the city -- a world far stranger and more dangerous then the only one he has ever known. - From back of book
Very cool!
I fully enjoyed and recomend this to anyone who liked Alice in Wonderland (the book, not so much the Disney movie) or the old Grimm Fairy Tales.
Not liking:
- Being sick. I've been sick for over a week now. Every time I think I'm done with it, it decides it can go another round. I'm sure Target is staying in business just from the amount of Theraflu and Tylenol Cold I've bought over the last couple of weeks. (Steve and Ashley were sick a week or so ago.)
- My hair. I did have a couple of days where I was really regretting cutting it off. Then I just starting to think of all the things I didn't like about long hair. Couple that with finally pretty much having the styling part down now, and I'm loving it.
- NoiseTrade.com is awesome. Seriously, so much good free music. Just downloaded Alli Rogers. Never heard of her before today, but she's good.
- Allie Moss. Not only is her album awesome, but she actually answers Tori on Facebook. That makes Tori happy which makes me happy. She's just good people. I wish I had the time/money to go to the Ingrid Michaelson concert on Wednesday in Towson. I'd totally bring them all some Nutella goodies because they are all cool, but especially Allie.
- Wednesday night doctrine classes at church. It's just so good to dig down deep into the Bible.
- Hats and scarves. Seriously men, how do you deal with the cold neck thing? I know how I do, cute hats and scarves. I'm guessing you all don't care to run around in fuschia berets and flowered sparkly scarves, but it helps my cold neck.
- Steve. He's just wonderful and cute and I love him.
